Last week saw the first sale in our recently launched range of wedding favours, hand-crafted by artisans from marginalised communities around the world.
The first sale, rather appropriately for a wedding, was a collection of small, soapstone hearts, made in Kibera slum in Nairobi. The hearts are made by a charity called Lunchbowl Network who provide a child from Kibera with 3 meals for each heart sold.
Our fairly traded gifts proved very popular at the wedding fair in Detling where they were first showcased last year. We hope that they will grow in popularity and become a means for improving lives as well as providing wedding guests with a physical memory of the occasion.
