“This is the sort of experience that stays with them for life”

Following Monday’s Poverty Trap, these words were uttered by a teacher after the session for their students.

One’s student’s parent even followed up to the teacher and shared that her daughter asked:

“how and what career she needs to do in order to help more people especially those poor.”

These are the deep introspective questions… that our world needs more people to ask. Thanks for all the help (pushing and promoting) over the past few weeks

In a few weeks, we are back with Desperate Journeys - may we trouble you for some more help getting “bums on seats”?

Education for Change (Sevenoaks School)

We were on the panel at an Education for Change conference last week where Ben was sharing about the importance of building a culture of empathy in and through educational institutes. Some great other speakers - a real privilege to lend our voice to this event.

Recent Poverty Traps

6 days. A donated space. 5 Simulations (immersive workshops). Around 220 participants. 22 volunteers. 2 curries (made by an Empathy Angel!) and cakes by volunteers. A lot of volunteer hours! Thank you (photos beneath)

Desperate Journeys

2 closed sessions for Hilden Grange School and Tonbridge Baptist church’s youth group booked and 4 public events (30 max per session). Please book up or pass on, we’d love to fill these events up we’re not sure when we’ll be back offering public events in such a way.

One of our Empathy Angel’s cooked up a lovely curry to help the aromas and feeding the team!

Puppy Love

A nice pixar-stye short brimming with empathy moments and just 3 and half minutes.

What we are watching, listening, reading, attending…

One of our team shared: “After a friend shared of his premature baby I found myself re-watching this video from a father (and filmmaker) of a premature baby (15 weeks) over the first year of his life

Other reads, clips, podcasts, events, films from around the team

6 ways to help us…

  1. Volunteer - we really need a bunch of regular helpers (eg a few hours or more(!) a week or for our immersive workshops from time to time).

  2. Share the news! - please forward, share any social media posts. Ta!

  3. Spread the word! - we’d value an intro… to any potential vols, customers or even clients! Word of mouth is the best!

  4. Become an Empathy Angel - this year we are looking for 100 ‘Empathy Angels’ to help invest into us as we reboot empathy action to build a ‘Culture of Empathy’. Could you spare us the price of a cuppa (£2.50) a week… We can’t and don’t want to do this alone!

  5. Host a coffee morning with a table of our handicrafts to sell and invite interested people to learn more and enjoy a cuppa

  6. Via smile.amazon - link here to enable amazon to give money to EA

    Thank you!
