We’re back!
Lot’s of plans kicking off. We’ll keep Team News updated with up and coming programmes and ways to get involved. We will definitely need ALL the help (and some) that we can find.
We’d love to invite you to help us build long lasting ‘characters of the future’ who will be responding to the world’s problems with empathy and compassion.

Colin, Fuzzy and Chris are working to finalise EA year end for last year. Thank guys!
Wally Hall School (Poverty Trap + Empathy Exercises) in June for Year 10s & Year 12s (c 113 students). We have 10 Year 12 students helping us out and one parent. This is great news as we need to assemble teams for the summer programmes.
Canford School (Poverty Trap - overnight) - programme starting to come together for c 120 year 9 students.
Sevenoaks School. We had a great conversation about integrating our work with their curriculum in a much stronger way that previously (eg Y7s- THL, Y8s - DJ and Y9s TPT with other Empathy Exercises and other ways like campaigns and assemblies) and a different payment model (monthly retainer?)… we could even create a special new ‘Empathy Action School’ award to help them showcase how much they value empathy! Now there’s an idea!
UCL Consultancy Challenge - accepted! We were invited to pitch for using 6-8 UCL students for a charity consultancy challenge for a week. Cam & Ben put an idea forward to develop future campaigns for Refugee Day, Peace Day and International Women’s Day through e-commerce, the Empathy Store and more. We won and have been invited to host 6-8 students with a prospect of winning £1k. The students will be with us, in a hybrid fashion, during the week of June 12th!
A new bespoke product being designed for Reboot The Future. It’s a special logo pin made from bullets in Cambodia. We’re mocking up some concepts for Reboot (who we made these special SDG pins). Exciting to be working with Sandy again!
Unfortunately, the Veggie Syrian Spoon cookbook is experiencing a few more delays. Fingers crossed that the team can overcome a technical hurdle!
Desperate Journeys 2 room preparations and trials continue. We tend to run on a Friday at the office and if you would like to come and see and help us user test with real participants, then you are welcome. Contact us to let us know and we can let you know when the next one is running - feel free to invite a prospective volunteer interested in helping us!
Barbra & Krishna (our interns student placements form the year from Activate Learning) came down to the office (from Oxford) last Friday and took part in a 2 room version of Desperate Journeys. It was great to have you with us!

Tunbridge Wells Ukrainian Refugees Support Group (TWUSG) has formed a facebook group here. They are working under Tunbridge Wells Welcomes Refugees (TWWR). Lots of useful intel on this group
REQUESTS from TWWR
People who are able to teach English to the Ukrainians are needed.
We need people who are able to teach small groups (eg 15 people) and probably either used to be (or are) teachers or have a TEFL or equivalent qualification. (Many thanks to those who have already offered, we have your details but we need more!) The groups would be for adults but may also be for children if they take a while to get into school.
We also need people who would be willing to support in these groups (eg help 2 or 3 people) or willing to take part in conversation groups or meet with people one to one to have conversations.

On the website they want to put links to free online help with learning English. This is to help the people from Ukraine learn English. If you know of any such sites, please send us information and a link.
